Pakistan secures 10 LNG cargoes at can charge of $14.5 mmbtu

ISLAMABAD: The nation has bought round 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes at a weighted usual can charge of $14.5 mmbtu (Metric Million British Thermal gadgets) for the existing month, which is virtually 75 % less as in comparison to the current cost of $60/mmbtu within the foreign spot market.

Minister for energy Hammad Azhar pointed out this in a tweet on Thursday, including: "LNG spot cargoes have touched $60/mmbtu in foreign markets".

"besides the fact that children Pakistan's weighted general of 9-10 cargoes arriving in March is priced best at $14.5/mmbtu of long run and spot cargoes purchased. here is regardless of 2 defaults of long term cargoes," brought the minister.

Hammad talked about the 'most aggressive cargoes' are arriving under the contracts signed by means of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) govt.

Elaborating the default of cargoes, he pointed out there have been two defaults on part of those traders with whom the old executive of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had signed the contracts.

"This could be their eighth default/non-performance in only a 6 months duration. ultimate spot buy became of $25/mmbtu on February 22. today's rate is $60/mmbtu."

in the meantime in a further tweet, Hammad Azhar referred to that retaining americans from the effects of world inflation is the executive's topmost precedence. He mentioned that the government has decided to make the subsidy equipment of Rs5 per unit on electricity more effective and he will quickly announce the details in this regard.
