extra big apple city residents should be eligible for half-priced MetroCards beneath a selection of the metropolis's fair Fares program, officers announced Friday.
fair Fares offers half-priced MetroCards to low-profits residents. The program was launched by way of Mayor invoice de Blasio and metropolis Council Speaker Corey Johnson early this year.
"We're a metropolis that places working individuals first, and no New Yorker should still must choose between taking mass transit and putting food on the table," de Blasio spoke of.
Any resident who's at or below the federal poverty line may be eligible for half-off MetroCards when open enrollment begins on Jan. 27. The poverty line threshold is $12,490 for an individual and $21,330 for a family unit of three.
